A new constituency incorporating busy market towns, quintessential villages and sprawling suburbs
The new Mid Buckinghamshire constituency encompasses Princes Risborough, Haddenham, Long Crendon, Great Missenden, Wendover, Stoke Mandeville, Stokenchurch and many other surrounding villages, as well as the growing Aylesbury suburb of Berryfields.
The Lib Dem prospective parliamentary candidate for Mid Bucks is Anja Schaefer. Anja has lived in Buckingham for over 30 years. She is currently the Mayor of Buckingham, a town councillor and a Bucks Unitary Councillor for the Buckingham East ward.
Anja is a senior lecturer in Business Studies at the Open University, specialising in the development of Small/Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Her priorities, if elected, are to bring stronger economic development to the area, to improve educational opportunities, especially for the most disadvantaged students, to support the needs of local health and social care and to protect the local environment and its natural habitats.
The Labour party have declared Mid Bucks to be a non-target seat at the next general election. Since June 2021, the Lib Dems have gained 9 seats in local by-elections across the county and are the clear challengers to the Conservatives in this area.
